3000 peaks invites people from various fields of expertise and practice to speculate about possible dealings with Swiss alpine peaks. Permafrost is generally decreasing as a consequence of the human made climate emergency. Since permanently frozen soil is expected over 2400 m and distributes over 4.5 % of Switzerland’s territory, its decline leads to unpredictable stability losses of at least 3000 Swiss alpine peaks – including the few highly symbolic ones.[read more] Imagining inevitable interventions and seeking for (counter)perspectives : What can potentially be done with the rocks?
It’s not about exclusion and competition – it’s about exchange and discourse!
Participating ideas should not be isolated from one another and compete to be the best one. It simply wouldn't mean anything. Quite the contrary, ideas should get in touch, exchange, complement, attract or repel each other, and ideas should be shared and discussed publicly.
All accepted ideas, including a carefully selected shortlist, will be presented to the public via several events. On the one hand it is intended to publicly display the urgency for climate action and discourse. On the other hand the idea’s speculative gesture will be applied to navigate public discourse into a realm of serious imagination, to facilitate new or extend common views on our current situation.[more about our aims]

Until the XXX of September 2020 you are invited to send in a proposal to [email protected], including the following information:
Please feel free to add Supplemental material* that meets the needs of your specific mode of expression.
*For suggestions of supplemental material please look up the details on participant-categories above.
[please read the file requirements!!!]
Your submission is finalized by receiving a confirmation e-mail.
Since the project is a public affair, by sending in your proposal you agree with the publishing of press information for all web and print purposes. [on your authorship rights]
By submitting a call-entry the participants assert to be acquainted with the open call’s regulations including the formal requirements for call-entries. [to the call’s regulations]
After the deadline, all submissions will be carefully reviewed by a jury [find out more about the jury] to create a shortlist of around 30 ideas – as far as possible evenly distributed among the different categories. Additionally, the general public will be given the possibility to vote on all call entries in an online poll. The jury-selected ideas will be presented on 3000peaks.com.
Your participation is not about a monetary award, a prize or reputation in the first place, as much as an open call is not a competition and 3000 peaks is not a state-run awareness or a corporate marketing campaign but a nonprofit project – by and for you. It’s about your ideas and imagination, about sharing them with others, about dreaming them together – not selling them!
All accepted ideas will be made public on 3000peaks.com in a certain way, dependent on their quantity and content.
You get a once-in-a-lifetime chance:
Provided sufficient funding and call results, a concluding exhibition along with a documenting publication are intended. All accepted ideas will be presented in a concise format. The shortlisted ideas will be exhibited in depth: elaborated further, introduced by their authors as well as discussed in public workshops.
